Mark Hansel, PAHM
Mark started his career in the employee benefits industry with UnitedHealthcare in 2001 where he worked his way up from sales operations to account management. In 2006, Mark transitioned to the broker side when David Moore was seeking the best Account Manager in the business to help better manage his clients. This allowed Mark to focus his work on a smaller number of clients to develop relationships and gain a better understanding of their specific benefits and concerns. His primary mission was to assist clients with claim, billing, and administration issues. Mark moved with the team when Benefit Brokers was formed in late 2009, where his primary focus is still helping clients work on their business and not benefit problems. He is highly regarded for his ability to facilitate a quick resolution and to prevent minor issues from escalating into major hassles.
Mark also is integral in the processes of marketing new benefit options, client communication, and client education. Mark understands that when clients understand the tools available to them such as HSAs (Health Savings Accounts), HRAs (Health Reimbursement Arrangements), Limited Funding, Captives, and FSAs (Flexible Spending Accounts), they are smarter, savvier consumers who make better decisions. Ultimately, client education minimizes both claims issues and renewal increases. Mark regularly attends MTAHU (Middle Tennessee Academy of Health Underwriters) meetings to gain knowledge and stay current on the many changes in the healthcare industry. He is Life, Health, Property, and Casualty licensed. A native of Nashville, Mark is an alumnus of Father Ryan High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University where he majored in business administration with emphasis on economics and finance. His personal interests include travel, reading, live music, hiking, camping, boating and Nashville Predators hockey.
